Physical therapy (PT), also known as physiotherapy, is one of the Medical health professions that, by using evidence-based kinesiology, exercise prescription, health education, mobilization and electrical or physical agents, treats acute or chronic pain, movement and physical imppairments resulting from injury, trauma or illness typically of musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological and endocrinological origins. Physical therapy is used to improve a patient's physical functions through physical examination, diagnosis, prognosis, patient education, physical intervention, rehabilitation, disease prevention and health promotion. Physical therapy is provided as a primary care treatment or alongside, or in conjunction with, other medical services.
Physical therapists use an individual's history and physical examination to arrive at a diagnosis and establish a management plan and, when necessary, incorporate the results of laboratory and imaging studies like X-rays, CT-scan, electrodiagnostic testing or MRI findings. PT management commonly includes prescription of or assistance with specific exercises, manual therapy, and manipulation, mechanical devices such as traction, education, electrophysical modalities which include heat, cold, electricity, sound waves, radiation, assistive devices, prostheses, orthoses and other interventions.
We have physiotherapy department which consist of male and female OPD, 6 cubicals for different machines one male therapeutic exercise gym and one female therapeutic exercise gym.
Physical therapy is a professional career which has many specialities including musculoskeletal, orthopedics, cardiopulmonary, nerurology, endocrinology, sports medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, women's health, wound care and electromyography.
